If you meet certain conditions, you may be eligible to apply for Canadian

Citizenship.

Applicants should meet the below requirements to be eligible for Citizenship:

Age; Applicants should be at least 18 years old or older

Permanent resident status; Applicants should have firm permanent resident status in Canada.

Time the individual has lived in Canada;

Applicants should have lived in Canada as a permanent resident for more than 1,460 days during the six years right before their application. And they should have lived in Canada for more than 183 days during each of four calendar years fully or partially within the six years right before they apply.

Income tax filing; Individuals should meet their personal income tax filing obligations in four taxation years that are fully or partially within the six years right before their application.

Intention to reside; During the application process, they should declare that their intention is to live in Canada.

Language skills; Applicants have to prove that they have sufficient language skill of either English or French. (Does not apply to applicants over the age of 65 and above)

Knowledge of Canada;

They have to have background knowledge of Canada such as history, institutions, voting in elections and more and they will take a test about those subjects. (Does not apply to applicants over the age of 65 and above)

Prohibitions (Crime related); If the individual has committed crime inside or outside Canada, they may not qualify to obtain citizenship for a certain of time.

From 2014, if individuals have served with Canadian Armed Forces, they may be able to apply for citizenship through a fast-track process which is based on estimating how long they have served for Canada.

PR renewal

 Most permanent resident cards have a validity for five years. You must renew their card six months before its expiration.

To renew the PR card, you should;

•Fill out and submit the application form

•Submit two photos

•Submit supporting documents
